Grassroots Grants

A new small grants scheme administered by Nottinghamshire Community Foundation.

The aim of the fund is to support small local voluntary and community groups. To be eligible to apply your group must:

  • be a not-for-profit third sector community or voluntary group[
  • have a valid constitution
  • have been established for at least 12 months before your application
  • have an income of less than £30K p.a. (can be averaged over the last 3 years)
  • be volunteer led
  • be connected with and/or meeting the needs of the local community

The fund aims to respond to the diverse needs of local community organisations and so grants can be used for a wide range of activities and projects, for example:

  • capital costs - like purchasing equipment
  • staff costs
  • costs of running a local event or workshop
  • rent
  • activities that meet an identified local need
  • running conferences, consultation events or festivals
  • additional activities to expand an existing project
  • training
  • support for the organisation to achieve a quality or other relevant standard

This fund will be running for 3 years. The minimum grant is £250 and the maximum grant is £5,000. You can apply up to once per year but you cannot be awarded more than £5,000 in total from the fund. The examples below show how grants can be made over 1 to 3 years. Please note that a new application is required for each year and cannot be for the same project.
